Peppermint!

PEPPERMINT!

A friend of mine asked me to create something in red and white.  I must say that those colors are not something that I’d be inclined to try, but play around I did.  What fun!  White on red and red on white with the focus and entertainment value on the variances and texture.  They  do bring forth a smile.  I enjoy naming my creations, but this one had me stumped for a few months.  I didn’t want to name it “Carol” – although she did inspire me to work “out of the box”.  It came to me in a flash the other day – as often happens – PEPPERMINT!  Maybe it’s the season, but it seems to fit perfectly.  I always feel complete when the name comes to me.  Maybe that’s how authors feel when the title of their recent book emerges.

I’ve created a new Facebook page: Fire and Wire ~ Bonnie Perry, Artist.

Stop by and become a fan.  I’ve just discovered this new way of staying in touch – a carry-over from my thrill of my new Mac and iPhone!

Can a person actually be in love with a phone?

New Locations

Posted in Gallery, Shop on November 23, 2009 by Bonnie Perry

There are two new locations on Cape Cod and one in Naples, Florida that carry an extensive selection of my work.

Look in the windows at Guertin Brothers Jewelers, 394 Main Street, Hyannis, and you’ll see several of my collections. Of course, I name my favorites. Ruffle, Raku, Contrast, Serendipity and Autumn Jazz can be found at Guertins.

My Sisters Gallery (no relation really) at 20 Jarvis Street in historic Sandwich also has a quite complete collection of some of my favorites.  Donna or Justin are very friendly as well as helpful.  Many of my artist-friends’ work can also be found at My Sisters Gallery.

If you’re heading south, you can stop in Random Acts of Art on Fifth Avenue in Naples, Florida.  This is a vibrant gallery which gives me a  boost in energy as soon as I walk in the door.  An adventure from start to finish.

I’m delighted to be doing two shows this summer and am very excited to feature my new Serendipity Collection -blues and greens inspired by our Cape Cod ocean and sky.  This blue-green /ocean-sky idea came to me late last summer. I began selecting blue and green glass and staging it on my glass table.  The colors were in my head all winter.  Finally this spring the collection was actually born!

I am honored to have a number of my pieces included in the Looking at Glass exhibit at the Bristol Art Museum, on the grounds of Linden Place in downtown Bristol at the corner of Hope and Wardwell Streets in Bristol, Rhode Island.
There is an opening reception on Friday, April 3 from 7 pm to 9 pm and Sunday afternoon, April 5th, I am giving a gallery talk about my work.
Sometimes I am refered to as “a jeweler”, but I’m delighted when I’m in the world of glass.
I’d love to see you there!

My favorite necklace – Ruffle – has made it into the Upstairs/Downstairs Show at the Pen and Brush Society in New York City – October 9 through November 2.  The Pen and Brush Society is in Greenwich Village and has been encouraging and supporting women in the arts for 113 years.  I’d love to know the names of the women artists whose work has traveled through these doors!   http://www.penandbrush.org

My “Desk”

My Messy Glass Table

My glass table is messy on purpose (ok, well, partly on purpose because cleaning = boring…).  Some times I plan my color choices, but other days I just totaly follow my muse.  I pick up one color and an unexpected choice follows as a result of seeing the glass randomly scattered about the table.

If you look closely you’ll see that I sometimes use fancy brass presses, but I also love my old steak knife and trusty Ace Hardware pliers. I watch television while beadmaking – thus the remote.  I switch between the History Channel and CMT.  Maybe that’s why some of my beads are rather tame while others have a stronger vibe to them.
