Here’s a bluer than blue bouquet. I just couldn’t resist putting these beads into a vase. I simply love this bold transparent colbolt glass. I’ve made them into a Bluer Than Blue Bauble Necklace. The shell bead is a bauble gone bad…smile. There is one “Mary Englebright” bead in the bouquet – black and white with a big yellow flower. I made that for a special friend.

My Glass Studio
25 04 2008
I’m heading out to my glass studio for a fun-filled day of playing with glass. There is nothing better! My studio window boxes have pansies, and there is a large flower to cheer me on. Here’s a look at the studio from the outside. Notice that I have one window covered? That is to keep the direct light out of my flame area. My work is all about managing the glass in the flame, so I darn better be able to see where that flame is! Not only for detailed textures and finely shaped beads, but also so that I don’t totally burn myself.

What a coincidence!
23 04 2008I just got an email from someone who bought one of my necklaces last summer. She shared with me the most outlandish coincidence. She attended a wedding in the Bahamas and met another wedding guest also wearing one of my necklaces! It is a small world. They had what sounded like a delightful conversation about my work. That just proves it. One never knows…..

Entering the World of Blog When I Should be Making Beads
16 04 2008On this simply sparkling day I should be in my studio making beads, but today I am inspired to begin my blog. I took photos of the beads that came out of my kiln and will share them with you. I need to get busy making new pieces out of my winter’s stash of new beads. My Harbor Your Arts artist shanty, located at the town dock on Ocean Street in Hyannis, is opening on Saturday, May 17. I grew up not far from the dock and it does feel like coming home again. Spring – a new beginning – birds singing, carrying twigs for nests, flowers bloomimg in the garden and a new season in my shanty. Everything seems just as it should be.
